IELTS

I am not an expert in English:

However, to know what has to be done to achieve something doesn't require an expert. I have prepared for IELTS General and took the test for 9 times And PTE once.

If one is taking the IELTS test for Australia PR then one has to get same score in all the sections of the exam, i.e They consider least scored section as overall score though IELTS authority says otherwise. For example if a person scores 7 in speaking and 6.5 in reading and 7 in listening and 8 in writing, one might get overall score as 7.5 awarded by IELTS authority, but for Australia PR purpose the score will be considered  only as 6.5 and the points will be awarded based on band 6.5 only.

There are two authorities that conduct the IELTS test. one is IDP and the second one is British Council.
However, both the tests are of same format and conducted on the same days. Only conducting authorities are different. Also, one's score will not differ whatever authorities they choose.

One can book their test by clicking below links

Some of the suggestions I would like to give for those who want to take IELTS General, not academics, are give in this blog. These suggestions are for those who score below 6 in each section.

Firstly, one has to book the exam and take the test even though they are not confident enough in securing the score they require. Only after one takes the real test, one will get to know where he stands. Sample test at your home and coaching institutes wont give the correct assessment. After the exam and the results you will want to do below if you haven't got the required band.

Steps to Improve your Band (From 4 and 5) to 6 and 7

First and most important one:

Please read the book "Essential Words for the IELTS". This is an excellent book that cost just 259 on Amazon.co.in. By reading this book one can learn the usage of most appropriate word in the correct context.

Secondly: You can purchase all the Cambridge IELTS Books from 1 to 10 and practice the tests. In fact, one will get a practice book if one schedule a test.
